Frequently Asked Questions
A. The day starts at 8.30am this is to allow for registration and daily preparation with the first session starting at 9am. The last session finishes at approximately 4pm, with the day finishing at 4.30pm.
Q. Is the course suitable for my son/daughter?
A. The course is open to all abilities from those who have never been near a boat to the those that are aspiring to a national level.
Q. What is the proportion of girls to boys on the courses?
A. All courses are mixed so it comes out around 50/50. Occasionally we have more of one sex but the courses are still mixed.
Q. What do they do during the day?
A. Weather permitting there will be two water based sessions and a land based session, in addition to this there will be a non rowing activity each day.
Q. Who will be coaching/teaching on the courses?
A. All members of the staffing team are CRB checked. All rowing coaches are themselves experienced in rowing, many of which started rowing locally and return for the summer courses.
Q. What will my son/daughter need to bring?
A. Each day they will need to bring:
A packed Lunch
Snacks for break time or money to spend at the snack hut
A water bottle
A spare change of clothes as a precautionary measure including a towel
Sun Cream
Weather appropriate clothing
Q. What boats will we get to row in?
A. We use all types of boats on the course from singles to octuples. Depending on your ability the coaches will decide what you boat you go out in each session.
Q. How can I reserve a place on a course?
A. To apply for a place on a course please send in a completed application form along with full payment either via the online payment system or by cheque. You will receive confirmation via the main correspondence email address you supplied on the application form. Due to the popularity of the courses we are unable to reserve places until payment is made.
